Coaching for children, young adults and/or parents

Coaching within The Coconut Club is meant for kids, young adults and/or parents who experience dissatisfaction, who need a boost in life, or have been through a challenging time. The guidance is fun, accessible and short term. Because everyone benefits from a personalized approach, we playfully alter our methods and tools, based on what we encounter along the way. We talk about the big things of life but we do so in safe and creative manners.

Age is nothing but a number

We work with clients as young as 6 years old, teenagers, students but also people in their thirties. As long as you’re interested and we can be of value to you, our door is open to you! We have developed a program for every age group: 6+, 12+ and 18+. Each program is completely different and is well aligned with the developmental phase of our client.

  1. First things first. An intro call to share about your situation

This is always free and non binding. I would love to hear more about your situation and challenges. This is also the perfect chance to ask any questions regarding our coaching program. Afterwards I will share a summary of my first observations and a customized plan of approach by e-mail. Still feeling positive about it? Use the link in the e-mail to schedule your intake session with your nearest coach.

2. Time to meet your coach in person!

For parents (kids aged 6+): ideally this intake meeting takes place together with both parent(s) and your child. We get to know each other and your child can feel whether he/she feels comfortable around the coach. All of us work from home and will create a warm and safe environment. We will formulate positive goals and both the parents as the child can feel if there is a click.

For young adults (18+): you decide whether you’d like your parent(s) to be involved in your intake session. All is good!

3. Let’s get to work

Did the intake leave you with a good feeling? I’m glad. Let’s get to work, using fun and creative coaching methods. Together with the client we discover what (s)he needs to feel better. Think of certain coaching board games with the kids, drawing, painting, crafts, movement, and… hold your horses: conversation. We talk about the big things of life but we do so in accessible and fun ways. We do not work with waiting lists and we offer tailored sessions to our clients. We always end our sessions with mindfulness exercises.

Many people experience a ‘busy mind’ and find it hard to slow down their thinking or to experience inner calm. When we overthink, or sleep too little, it becomes hard to concentrate, we feel on edge or impatient, are more prone to illness or anxiety/stress. Body and mind crave balance: moments to charge your battery in order to function or feel fulfilled.

Our brains aren’t finished developing until we reach around 25 years of age… until then, new connections are being created in the prefrontal cortex at a top speed every day! This is why mindfulness is a part of every coaching session at the Club. We teach our clients tools and techniques to relax, focus better during the day and to deal with stress, thoughts and anxiety. They develop a relaxed way of interacting with the world and learn that we don’t have to believe everything we think!

4. Halfway: evaluation

For parents: halfway throughout out journey we will schedule an evaluation session so you can hear about our observations and recommendations. Also we would then love to hear more about how things are going at home, at school: what is your experience so far? We often set up a quick WhatsApp group to facilitate easy communication. Based on the evaluative outcomes we decide what topics deserve more/less attention in the remaining sessions.

There is never ‘something wrong’ with our client

Despite the fact that people in certain developmental phases share common traits and needs, their authenticity is leading here. Our program is focussed around existing strengths (and associated pitfalls) of each individual. There is never anything ‘wrong’ with a client, and we don’t diagnose or use labels.

Optionial: guidance for parent(s)

Often we see how big the role of parent(s) can be in breaking through certain patterns at home. Of how they might unknowingly have a negative impact on the family dynamics or their child’s development. Or we see very tired and fed up parents who just feel worn out and need a boost! (so relatable by the way..). We often receive feedback from parents saying how much they valued our input and recommendations. I am good at reading between the lines which makes us get to the core of things rather quickly. Just one conversation could already make a big difference. We could set this up live or in a video call.
